Lyft designed a program known as Lyft Rewards to provide its drivers with this chance to earn specific rewards based on every dollar they earn during busy hours. Right now, this program is only available to some drivers. Lyft will notify you as soon as you are eligible for it.
Lyft Rewards is a point-based program that calculates the points that drivers make by making trips for Lyft. As you progress through Lyft Rewards, there will be two types of points you can use:
- Qualifying points help determine your tier status in the program for both your current and upcoming qualifying periods. These points reset at the beginning of a qualifying period.
- Redeemable points are used to redeem cash or ride credit rewards. Redemption of these points has no impact on your tier or qualifying points. These points have no expiration.
Some drivers who are members of Lyft Rewards system may receive special limited-time promotions where all the earned points are only qualified for only one category. Points will be earned from rides where a passenger is accepted or dropped off during a busy hour.
You can always check the busy hours of your driving region through ‘Lyft Rewards’ tab of Lyft Driver app menu.
Lyft Driver Benefits

By working with Lyft, you can also use the privileges of receiving special rewards if you just know how and when to make your Lyft rides and also get to know the services which Lyft is offering to its drivers through Lyft app.
Lyft Driver Rewards
After you earn enough points to use by driving at busy hours, you’ll be able to use them and unlock 3 Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers and start using its rewards. Note that redeeming points for rewards doesn’t affect your progress toward unlocking the next tier.
Here are the different tiers you can unlock and the rewards they provide you each:
Silver
After unlocking silver tier, redeem points to take Lyft rides.
You will also receive these rewards:
- 2% cash back on gas through the Lyft Direct debit card
- Discounted roadside assistance with Allstate
- Savings on TurboTax Self-Employed (available from December through April)
Gold
- 4% total cashback on gas through the Lyft Direct debit card
- The option to redeem points for a cash bonus
- The ability to see the direction and length of a ride before you accept it (90% acceptance rate required)
To see your current acceptance rate, tap ‘See trip info before accepting a ride’ from the Gold Rewards details in your app
Platinum
- 5% total cash back on gas through the Lyft Direct debit card
- Free roadside assistance with Allstate
Drivers who are looking to unlock the platinum tier will have to reach a minimum of 4.90 ratings or higher. However, they won’t lose the platinum status unless their rating falls below 4.8. Each time you enter the next tier, all the rewards and the benefits of previous tiers will remain in your account and you can keep using them.
Please note that there are 4 different periods to use the Lyft Rewards program within a year:
- Feb. 1 – April 30
- May 1 – July 31
- Aug. 1 – Oct. 31
- Nov. 1 – Jan. 31
After each period, your progress for unlocking the next tier will be reset. However, your rewards points balance will remain untouched.
To unlock Gold and Platinum and keep using their rewards, drivers must maintain a 4.80 rating or higher during the current period until the end of the next period.
Lyft Fuel Rewards
There are also rewards for drivers to let them some their cash back on gas with a Lyft Direct debit card:
- No tier – 2% cash back
- Silver – 2% cash back
- Gold – 4% cash back
- Platinum – 5% cash back
Lyft Direct is a separate program and subject to terms and conditions. Cashback rewards apply at select gas stations.
